Meadowsweet

Filipendula ulmaria

80+ seeds

This an ancient herb used by the druids for its anti-inflammatory and other medicinal qualities. Modern aspirin was developed from extracts of meadowsweet due to its high content of salicylic acid. This means meadowsweet is believed to be effective against the same ailments that aspirin is used for, such as headaches, fever, nausea and cramps. The plant itself produces fluffy flowers of pink or white. The flower tops and leaves are the common parts used for medicinal purposes and it can also be used to make a tea. Also known as Queen of the Meadow, Pride of the Meadow, Meadow-Wort, Meadow Queen, Lady of the Meadow, Dollof, Meadsweet and Bridewort.
