Midnight Pearl (Purple)
Medium size tubers
(Note these tubers can be cut up to make many more planting pieces, just be sure each pieces has a sprout / eye.)
This beautiful variety produces medium to large sized oblong potatoes with purple skin and purple flesh. Similar in appearance to purple congo but generally larger and smoother. They have good flavour and retain colour when cooked.
Especially good for potato salads but also for mashing, steaming, boiling, roasting and salads. Very productive.
Sowing time -Cool climates - After last frost August-October Temperate Climates - Mid July - October Warm / Tropical climates - April-August
Prefer sunny position, prepare bed deeply at least 25cm down, soil should be friable to avoid odd shaped potatoes. Sow in 10cm deep furrows with 25 cm between tubers and 75cm between rows. Fertilise well. Large tubers can be cut so long as each half has an eye or sprout
