This plant is a vigorous climber, most at home in the tropics and warm zones but also grown as a summer crop in cooler areas. It is also known as malabar spinach. Whilst regular spinach tends to become bitter in warmer weather, this variety thrives in it. It can be grown up a trellis to save space and harvested for its leaves just like regular spinach.This particular variety of ceylon spinach has deeper green stems than the regualr variety and purple/ red stems.
