This Indian native produces gorgeous pink orchid like blooms throughout spring and summer. Bauhinia are a member of the legume family and semi deciduous. Fast growing, heat loving and drought tolerant. Excellent for warm climates. Will grow in a sheltered spot in temperate climates but protect from frost until established.

Height up to 10-12 m, usually smaller in most garden situations.

Suited to Tropical and subtropical climates but will easily tolerate warm temperate and arid zones.

Cultivation - soak seeds for 24 hours, sow 1cm deep in well drained soil. Germinates at temperatures 24-32 degrees, use of a heat mat recommended. Germination in 2-3 weeks.
